#19: Go to a Yankee Game + New York City on 9/11

The day was September 11th, and I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend it. The Yankees were hosting the Rays, and I couldn’t wait to take the 4 train and see The Captain in action one last time. “Dehhh-rek-Jeee-terrrr!”

Yankee Stadium sure is nice. Lovin’ the #2 flags, too!

The Yankees took it upon themselves to get zero hits in the first 7 1/3 innings. And then, down by 2 in the bottom of the 9th on September 11th, Chris Young did THIS:

And, really, I’m very glad they won. A win meant that I got to listen to this wonderful song – played after every Bronx-Bomber victory:

I’ll miss The Captain, even though he plays for a team I love to hate, but this day was about New York. And then some. Way to go, Yanks. I thoroughly enjoyed the “USA” chants throughout the ballgame.

Some people might not know this, but during the entire week of every September 11th since 2001, the night sky has been dressed with something beautiful and somber in one. I, for one, really enjoy seeing it. Even though it makes me sad.
